January 5 and already behind

As I told my friend Toby when she asked if I’m going to blog more, “I’m going to strive for progress, not perfection. I’ll miss some days, and I’m okay with that. I may double up on some days, too.”

Dearest gentle reader, believe me when I say it will take a bit for me not to feel guilty about missing days.

So Toby and I are doing a year of lists, with a prompt a day from Memories by Meyers (you can join her on her Facebook page, or you can be super awesome and support a small, woman-owned and operated Etsy business). January’s list are about Beginnings, as is appropriate for January in the Gregorian calendar (which, bee tee dubs, is the only calendar that most of us use; there are others, buuuuuuuuut….) and today’s prompt is 3 small goals for this month.

My goals may not be small, but they’re going to be massive by the time I get going. They’re small steps into the larger picture, and that’s totally fine by me. Progress, not perfection.

Goal #1: Exercise more. That can be the free gym at work or my own garage gym, at least three days a week. I follow amazing creators like Scotty K Fitness, Tank Tolman, Tyler Steff, and Dylan_Jumps, and they are fantastic in their knowledge, in their content, and in their non-toxic masculinity. I plan to utilize Tank’s Training Grounds app, and that will be my payment for a gym. If I need more, I have options, but that’s where I’m going. Dylan is getting me my cardio. His entire feed is jumping rope. That sounds odd, until you see what this man does. Holy double dutch, Batman. He dances while he jumps, and I want to learn. Scotty has a new podcast coming out; he and his podcast partner don’t even have an episode out, and they’ve already got 4.88K (at the time of me writing this) subscribers. Tyler is just super fun and really doesn’t take himself all that seriously.

Goal #2: Blog more. I have an alarm on my phone to blog at least once a day. I think I make that four times a week, because I’m gonna miss shit, and I know that. I’ll be fine with that. Watch this space for awesome bullshittery.

Goal 3: Create more. To quote La Vie Boheme from Rent, “The opposite of war isn’t peace; it’s creation.” Whether that’s new apothecary products, more 3D prints for my family and friends, more knitting (secondary goal: one project finished a month. Or 12 for the year. That’ll probably be better), or more cross stitch/blackwork (secondary goal: finish the Peppermint Purple 2026 SAL with mah frens, I will create more this year. I need to.

Welcome back, y’all. We’ll see what kind of ride 2026 takes us on. If I need the prompt, I’ll use it. Otherwise, it’ll be random brain vomit coming out my typing fingers.

  1. Thank you so much for introducing me to Meyer’s Memories! It’s going to be really helpful moving forward with my writing. I’m looking forward to seeing your responses!
